Best mock test platform 2026: Testbook vs Adda247 vs Oliveboard vs Mockrooms

The best mock test platform in 2026 is the one that copies your real exam exactly, tells you which topics cost you marks, and gets you practising those topics before the next mock. A large number of tests matters less than most students think. A platform with 50 mocks that you sit and forget will move your score less than one with 3 mocks that you sit, analyse and act on.
This guide gives you eight checks to run on any mock test website or app, a comparison of the main kinds of platform, and an honest account of where Mockrooms is strong and where it is not. We built Mockrooms, so read our part with that in mind, and check every claim yourself: every test on the site is free to try.
Why the platform matters
A mock test is a measurement, not practice. It tells you, under exam conditions, where your marks go. If the conditions are wrong (a different timer, no negative marking, a screen that saves answers by itself), the measurement is wrong, and you fix the wrong things. Our article on how to use mock tests sets out the full routine: test, analyse, improve, repeat.
So the question is not "which platform has the most tests?" but "which platform measures me most like the real exam, and helps me act on what it finds?"
Eight checks for any mock test platform
- Is the pattern current? Patterns change. SSC moved CHSL, CPO and Selection Post to a separate timer for each part in 2026; GATE, CUET and banking exams adjust counts and timing from notice to notice. A good platform names the notice its pattern comes from.
- Is the marking real? The mock should take away exactly what the exam takes away: 0.5 per wrong answer in SSC CGL Tier-I, a quarter of a mark in IBPS PO prelims, one third in UPSC prelims, nothing for a wrong numerical answer in GATE.
- Is the screen like the exam's? On the SSC screen an answer counts only after "Save & Next" or "Mark for Review & Next". Banking prelims lock each section after its 20 minutes. If your mock screen behaves differently, you train the wrong habits.
- Are the answers explained? A key alone tells you that you were wrong. An explanation tells you why, and why the tempting option was a trap.
- Does it find your weak topics? After each mock you should see, section by section, which topics lost the most marks, not just one total score.
- Can you practise exactly those topics? The step that raises scores is practising the weak topics between mocks. A good platform lets you start that practice from the result page, in one click.
- Is it in your language? Most central government exams in India offer a Hindi paper. If you will sit in Hindi, practise in Hindi, including the explanations.
- What does it cost, and what is honest about it? Free tests with clear limits beat a paid pass full of tests that do not match the exam. Be wary of any platform that calls its questions "official" or "actual" when they are not, or promises selection.
How the main kinds of platform compare
There are four common ways to get mock tests. The table shows what each usually offers. Individual platforms vary, so use it as a starting point and run the eight checks above.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | A paid pass for full access, some free tests | Free | Included in fees | Free |

Testbook, Adda247, Oliveboard, PracticeMock and Mockrooms compared
These are the offers as each platform's own pages listed them in October 2026. Their prices change with sales, coupons and the exam you choose, and their own pages do not always agree, so confirm the price at checkout before you pay.

Where they are stronger: far more tests per exam, an all-India rank among their users, and classes if you want them. Where Mockrooms is different: everything is free, nothing is locked behind a pass, and the result is built around one plan, which the next section explains.
Why Mockrooms' analysis and practice are its strongest part
Every platform shows a score and a topic-wise breakdown. What Mockrooms does differently is what happens next:
- It picks three topics per section for you, not a long table. For every section of the paper you see the three topics that cost you the most marks, weakest first. You do not have to read a chart and decide.
- It looks at all your tests, not just the last one. A topic you got wrong once by bad luck does not push out a topic you keep losing marks on.
- One click starts practice on exactly that topic. The button beside each weak topic opens untimed questions on that topic alone, marked as you answer, each with its explanation, in English or Hindi.
- The next mock checks that it worked. A topic leaves your list once you answer most of its practice questions right, and the next full mock measures everything again, so you can see whether the practice moved your score.
That is the whole loop in four steps: test, see your three weak topics per section, practise them, test again. It is the same on all 100 exams.
How easy it is to start
- Open your exam's page, for example SSC CGL.
- Press Start mock test and make a free account with your email. No payment details, no app to install, no plan to choose.
- The test opens in your browser, on a phone or a computer, on a screen that follows the real exam's rules.
The honest summary: if you want hundreds of mocks, an all-India rank and video lessons in one app, a large paid platform does that. If you want free, exam-faithful mocks with every answer explained and a clear plan for what to practise next, that is what Mockrooms was built for.
Why we think Mockrooms is a strong pick for 2026
It copies the real exam. Each test follows its exam's latest official notice: the number of questions, the time, the marks, the negative marking, and whether sections are timed separately. SSC tests use SSC's screen rules, such as "Save & Next" and the five-colour question palette, and sections that run their full time. Bank prelims lock each 20-minute section. JEE Advanced uses its partial marking for one-or-more-correct questions.
It turns every result into a plan. The result shows your score and every answer with its explanation. Then, for each section of the paper, it lists your three weakest topics, the ones that cost the most marks, worked out over every test you have taken, not just the last one. Each topic has a button that starts practice on exactly that topic. The next mock shows whether the practice worked. Our guide on how to analyse a mock test explains the method behind it.
It is free. Every mock and every practice set is free. You sign up only so the site can keep your results and weak topics.
It is in English and Hindi. Every Indian exam with a Hindi paper has its tests in both languages, with Hindi explanations, and one switch turns the whole site into Hindi.
It covers 100 exams in one place. SSC, UPSC, railway, banking, state exams, JEE, NEET, CUET, GATE, CAT, CA and CS exams, and international ones such as IELTS, PTE and GRE. Each exam page has its pattern, syllabus, exam dates and tips, and exams with several papers have a page for each, such as GATE ECE or CDS OTA.
It is easy to use. Open an exam's page and press Start mock test; the page shows the questions, time, marks and penalty for a wrong answer before you begin, and topic practice is one click from the same page. There is no app to install; it runs in the browser on a phone or a computer, and an unfinished test can be resumed.
It is honest about its questions. SSC CGL tests are SSC's own previous papers as they were set. For the other exams, the questions are written for this site in the real pattern and difficulty, and the site says so. It never calls them official.
Where Mockrooms is not the best choice (yet)
- Fewer mocks per exam. Outside SSC CGL, most exams have one to three full mocks so far. That is enough for the test, practise, test-again loop, but not for a mock every day for months.
- No all-India rank. The site compares your score with the exam's own published cut-offs where it has them (SSC CGL), not with other users.
- No video lessons or live classes. It is a testing and practice site. Learn new topics from your books or classes, and use the mocks to find what to learn.
- Writing and speaking are self-assessed. For IELTS, PTE and similar tests, you mark your own writing and speaking against the criteria shown.
How to choose in ten minutes
- Pick your exam and open one free mock on two or three platforms.
- Run the eight checks above on each. Look hardest at the timer, the negative marking and the screen.
- Sit one full mock on the one that passes, then look at what its result tells you to do next.
- Choose the platform whose result you can act on. That is the one that will raise your score.
To start, open your exam's page: SSC CGL, IBPS PO, RRB NTPC, UPSC prelims, JEE Main or NEET UG.
