The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is National Law University Delhi's own admission test for its five-year B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) and its one-year LL.M. It is not CLAT: NLU Delhi does not admit through CLAT or LSAT, only through AILET. AILET 2027 exam date

As of 20 October 2026, the university's AILET 2027 FAQ gives:

Event Date
Online applications opened 7 August 2026
Last date to apply 10 November 2026
Correction window 3 days after the last date
Admit card Available in your login from 30 November 2026
AILET 2027 Sunday 13 December 2026, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The B.A.LL.B. and LL.M. papers are in the same sitting. CLAT 2027 is a week earlier, on 6 December, so a candidate sitting both has two Sundays in a row.

How to apply for AILET 2027

  1. Open the application link on nationallawuniversitydelhi.in and register.
  2. Fill in the form, choosing B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) or LL.M. and your category.
  3. Upload your photograph and signature in the size the portal asks for.
  4. Pay online by debit or credit card, net banking or UPI. The FAQ (read 20 October 2026) gives the fee as ₹3,000, or ₹1,000 for SC, ST and PwD applicants; SC, ST and women applicants below the poverty line are exempt.
  5. Download the acknowledgement and the fee receipt from your login.
  6. Use the three-day correction window after 10 November only if you made a mistake.

Keep ready: Class 10 and 12 mark sheets (or your expected Class 12 details), a category or PwD certificate if you claim one, and an ID. Original certificates are checked at admission.

Eligibility for B.A.LL.B.(Hons.): 10+2 or equivalent with at least 45% (42% for OBC, 40% for SC, ST and persons with disability), per the programme's eligibility page. Students sitting Class 12 in 2027 may apply. There is no upper or lower age limit for AILET 2027.

AILET exam pattern

From the AILET 2027 B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) exam-details page:

Section Questions Marks
A. English Language 50 50
B. Current Affairs and General Knowledge 30 30
C. Logical Reasoning 70 70
Total 150 150

There is no separate time for each section. Each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks, so four wrong answers cancel one right one. If totals tie, higher Logical Reasoning marks rank first, then the older candidate, then a computerised draw.

The LL.M. paper is different: 100 multiple-choice questions from different branches of law, 1 mark each, 0.25 off for a wrong answer, also 120 minutes.

AILET syllabus

  • English (50): reading passages with questions on the main point, stated facts, inference, the meaning of a word in context and the writer's attitude. The 2027 page does not list sub-topics.
  • Current Affairs and General Knowledge (30): standalone questions; the page names the area but gives no topic list. Our practice questions cover the Constitution and public institutions, history, geography of India, textbook science, arts and culture and international bodies; add recent news from your own reading.
  • Logical Reasoning (70): almost half the paper. Critical reasoning (assumptions, what follows, strengthen and weaken) plus short analytical puzzles, series and codes. Legal principles may appear, but the page says no legal knowledge is needed.

See our AILET syllabus page for the full list.

An eight-week plan to 13 December

Weeks 1–2. Apply before 10 November. Sit one full timed AILET mock test and mark it. Note how long Logical Reasoning took: with 70 questions, it decides both the score and the tie-break.

Weeks 3–5. Daily: 30 Logical Reasoning questions against the clock (about a minute each), one or two reading passages, and 20 minutes of news. Keep an error log: misread question, wrong assumption, calculation slip, or too slow.

Weeks 6–7. A full mock twice a week at 2:00 p.m. Try two or three section orders and keep the one that gives your best score. Note how many wrong answers you make in each section; if guesses are costing you more than they earn, guess less.

Week 8. If you are also sitting CLAT on 6 December, use the days after it for two AILET mocks and revision only. Download the admit card (from 30 November) and check the centre.
